India Oct 2010
Steve and I at the wedding in Dallas

Cameron had a hello kitty party!

Gareths first birthday!

ItsNovember already!!!!

I cannot believe its been since July that I blogged. The past few months have flown by like crazy. Where do I even begin??????
Ok here we go ..............
In August Jim and Ann Cagle asked Steve and I if we would be interested in taking over Harvest Ministries, a small christian retreat center just north of Columbia Ms. After thinking it through and praying about it we said yes. Steve is now the director of ministries and I am on the board. Jim and Ann are transitioning out over a short time. ( not sure how long we need for that, we love them and dont really want them to leave)
Since then we have planned a Womens retreat that took place just a few weeks ago in Oct and we have a Youth Ministers retreat planned for the first weekend in December.
Since we took over many weekend retreats from area churches have been booked and many more are planning to book. We are having sooooo much fun with this!
In addition to Harvest we still have our Three Fold Ministry.
The last week of Sept. we went back to India for 10 days. That was a great opportunity. It was my 2nd time and Steves 3rd in the past 18 months. The orphanage is finished except for the showers . WE stayed in the same hotel as before but this time we were able to give out 35 Bibles to employees who came to our room to quietly profess that they "are christian too" That was my favorite part of the whole trip!!
On the family side of life,.....Hunter and Nikki are engaged YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wedding will be either in August or Sept in NYC. Hunter still has one more year at Nyack and then on to seminary. Nikki will be going to nursing school.
Alyssa's dance studio was chosen to dance in the Macy's day parade so she and Bo are in NYC right now and tonight they are spending it at an improv with Hunter and Nikki.
Bo is doing well in New Orleans Seminary and is the youth minister at Pineview church.
WE were able to go to Baltimore for Gareths first birthday. Rachel and Justin are doing well there. Justin loves his job with Grainger and Rachel is now able to work from home wed-fri. and goes into the office in DC Mon and Tues.
We went to Dallas in Sept for Lauren"s ( my niece) wedding. That was beautiful!!!!
Three Fold had its big cookout at Rayburn correctional last weekend. WE served 1000 hamburgers to the inmates and had over 750 voluntarily come to the 2 worship services.
Well , I think thats about it.
Jacquelyn will graduate in Dec. and we are going to a party for her on the 17th that is being given by Fran at the Backdoor Cafe as a thankyou for Jacquelyn working for her catering business.
Please be praying for Ryan and his family as at this time he is still out of work. He has gone on a few interviews and we hope this works out well for him. Emery also turned 1 this year. She and Cameron had their parties in Birmingham on the same weekend.
Ok Im going to attempt to post pictures now. Of course they will come before this post because Im blog challenged.

July 14th 2010

Its been a busy summer. Hunter and Nikki came home for a week and we were able to celebrate his 21st birthday with some of his friends.

We were able to go to Birmingham for Fathers day to see Emery's dedication at church.

Just this past week I was able to go to Dallas to visit family. It was so fun to go with my sisters and Tiffany to look at dresses for Elle. She is to be the "flower Princess" at both Claire and Laurens weddings.

Im attempting to add a little cuteness to my blog. I found these freebes at Shabbyblogs . Im not real sure how to do all of this but it will be trial and error .

What happened to India

I should have written sooner but life just seems to fly by.
We did not go to India after all. Here is what happened:
2 weeks before we were suppose to leave I started to feel sick. Instead of getting better as time went by I just kept getting worse. I went to the Doctor and he gave me some medicine and I still was not better. It finally came down to having to make a decision. My Doctor ( who is also a friend) told me to call him on the Friday before we were to leave. ( we were leaving on Monday). At that time he and I would make the decision as to whether I was well enough to go or not. In the mean time I was packing and making our plans to leave.
Then early Thursday morning ( I mean real early, like 4am) Steve got an email from the company who booked our tickets. They said to call them ASAP!!. Steve, for some reason, was up early and called them around 6 or 7am. British air had canceled our flight. We were flying American from New Orleans to Chicago to London then British Air to Hydrabad then King Fisher from Hydrabad to Rajamundry. British Air employees decided they were going to go on strike the night we were to arrive at Hethrow so all flights were canceled.
This became a big mess since American and King Fisher were NOT canceling flights . Steve ended up staying on the phone for over 3 hours trying to work out connecting flights but nothing was working and in the end both British Air and American agreed to refund our money and the trip was canceled. We did loose money on the flight within India but thats ok.
We wondered why the Lord would have wanted our trip canceled but we didnt worry too much we figured He had a plan.
A week after we were to leave we found out from Williams ( the pastor in India ) that a cyclone ( hurricane) had hit the area. I went on line to find some news about it and found out the cyclone hit just south of Rajahmundry on the day that would have been our first full day there. It traveled up the coast and knocked out power and caused flooding in the villages we would have been visiting. 23 people lost their lives. The old orphanage was severely damaged. Thankfully the new one is almost finished and the children will have a roof over their heads in just a couple days.
In addition to the cyclone, India has been having a heat wave with temps near or over 121 degrees and 2 trains have been bombed in North east India near Calcutta.
It is our hope to return to India this year. Maybe in the fall if the Lord wills. Right now we continue to pray of the believers over there and are waiting on our refund so that we can afford to go.
Paul ( Williams brother) will be getting married this Wednesday. Steve would have been there for the wedding but thats ok. WE will be there in spirit. Wednesday is our anniversary too! Thanks to all of you who have been praying for us.
We will wait on Gods timing

SPRING IS HERE

Spring has finally arrived in South Mississippi! For some people that may not be unusal but for us, spring usually gets here much sooner than the end of march.

My tulips have even bloomed. Its my first time to plant them and I thought the snow and all that cold weather had killed them. The pear trees have been in bloom for about a week and now as the wind blows, their blooms are flying across the yard and look sooo pretty, its like a spring snow!

Tomorrow Im going into town to purchase plants for a garden. Im trying a raised bed this year. Wish me luck. I still havent quite figured out Mississippi soil. ( Too wet, too dry, too many bugs ????????)

Ok I need to go get to work and get off the computer. Im still working on the womens conference for India, which by the way we have moved up to May instead of June. Im only on charpter 2 of Esther. pray for me

what Ive been doing

I had a wonderful time last week careing for Gareth ( my grandson ) and visiting Rachel and Justin in DC. they took Gareth out of daycare for the week so for Monday and Tuesday I had him all to myself. Justin stayed home on Wed. to take him to the doctors. Gareth has been diagnosed with Juvenile xanthogranuloma. PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM , .

He was on steroids all week which just added to the fun .! :)

Actually I had a great time and even was able to teach him how to clap, sing (sortof) and say Gigi. Rachel was home Thursday-saturday but because of Gareths schedual we were unable to get in much shopping. I enjoyed just hanging out with them at the house though.

After another delayed flight Imade it home and am now taking care for Alyssa's dogs while she and Bo are in India. I have come to the conclusion I never want a weimerimer. Alyssa and Bo, I love you, but your dogs a maniac!

Friday Im going to Fairhope with some friends for the day. I am soooo looking forward to that.

revearsal of destiny

I love how God fits things together and weaves our lives. Nothing right now seems coincidental or ordinary.
When I was trying to decide months ago on what to teach in India I wanted to teach from1 john 1:1-2 but I felt the Lord telling me no I want you to teach from the book of Esther. So when the Bible study group I am part of in Hattiesburg told me we were doing Beth Moores Esther I was thrilled .
To make a long story short.....today I finished the last homework lesson in her Esther workbook. Near the end of that lesson she shows us in Acts 2 how the new believers were from the areas of Susa....the Jews of Esthers land. And then over in the margin she pulls a verse to connect it all 1 Jn 1 :1-2. You would have to read the whole lesson to understand and I dont have time right now to go through it with you. But I just had to stop and cry. I love my savior!!!

She asked a question : What have you savored most about our nine week journey?
I wrote, " God has reversed our destiny on the cross.!! Oh the marvelous ways of God our savior. Who takes the UNLIKELY and uses them for His glory. How marvelous is His name in all the earth!"

word on the womens conference

Williams wrote to us this morning and said that they are expecting 500 ladies to come to the womens conference. Of course this is "Indian" count :)
So Im guessing that about 150 to 200 will show up. Thats still a ton more than I was expecting. I thought we were only talking about maybe 20 tops.
Ya'll pray for me

Also Williams said he will send a picture soon of Pauls new bride to be.
