I am not Ashamed of the Gospel

Our Sunday Morning Bible Study group at the Microtel Hotel in Columbia Ms just started a study of the book of Romans.  We ended our first day with chp 1 vs 17.  It is those last 2 verses (16 and 17) that to me are so important and give a great overview and explanation of salvation and the gospel ( good news) of Jesus Christ.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel....
What is the gospel?   That Jesus is the Christ, messiah, the Son of God, who came and was born of a virgin.  He lived a life like ours yet without sin.  He was crucified on the cross and took the punishment that we deserved.  He died, was buried, then 3 days later He rose from the dead.  He walked, talked and ate on this earth for a while then ascended into heaven where he is seated at the right hand of the father interceding on our behalf.
For it is the power of God for salvation....
This "gospel" is what God chose from the beginning of time, to show His power over sin, to redeem us, sinners, so that we can stand in the presence of a Holy God and live with Him for all eternity.
To the Jew first, and also to the Greek
God chose Abraham and the nation that would come from him first to be His people. But through Jesus Christ,  God in His mercy extended salvation to everyone who will believe.
     For in it...
 It being salvation....the gospel
The righteousness of God is revealed...
God shows His goodness, perfect love, All His attributes in the redemption of sinners through the gospel of Jesus.
       from faith to faith...
Fallen man, sinners, only have to believe in the gospel of Jesus the Christ.  It is faith (trust, in God, belief)  that saves.  Our faith in God who is himself perfectly faithful.  He promises to "keep what we have committed to Him" and even when we doubt, fall back into sin, He cannot deny Himself. He is faithful to deliver.  Our faith- committed to Gods faithfulness .
as it is written, But the righteous man shall live by faith.
The man, women, or child who has placed their faith , their hope of redemption in the only Holy righteous and faithful God will be pronounced righteous .  His sins cast away as far as the east is from the west and he/she will live here and for all eternity in faith, trusting our faithful, loving, redeeming Holy God.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written "But the righteous man shall live by faith"  romans 1:16-17

Miracles in the midst of the storm

Why do I think sometimes God uses miracles and sometimes withholds them?   Because He knows the one He has created, all our faults and weaknesses and He loves us.   If He allowed miraculous events to take place through some of us, it would become all about us and not about Him.  God almighty will not share his glory with anyone.
When we were in India the first time, Steve wanted so badly to see a  miraculous healing take place.  But instead God sent us to pray for believers with no immediate results, until one night in the most remotest village a man had a seizure.  The Indian pastors wouldn't even touch him, they thought putting a set of keys in his hands would heal him, so Steve prayed for him and he was able to relax.   He says to this day he has not had another seizure.  God taught Steve in that moment that He is still able to miraculously heal, but He didn't want our trip to be about miracles but about showing the people of India His love.
Whether our Lord chooses to save us out of the storm or carry us through the storm or bring us home as a result of the storm, God does not change.  His love is always constant.
Bad things happen, it has been that way from Adam.
I remember back to when I was diagnoses with cancer.  I was totally devastated.  It was a level 5 melanoma on the inside of my right calf.  When my Doctor called to give me the news of the biopsy he cried.
I was young, with 3 small children.  Rachel was about 8, Alyssa 3 or 4 and Hunter was around 2 yrs old.  It was very bad news.  I had had that mole all my life but in the last year or so it had begun to change.  The Doctors in Ft. Worth were sure that by now it had spread.
In addition to this bad news we had no health insurance.  Our daughter Alyssa was born with a heart defect and had to have surgery when she was 18 months old.  We had insurance at that time but the medical bills piled up and my husband was in medical school.  After her recovery we were forced to make a decision.  We dropped all our insurance and placed Alyssa under the Easter Seal program.
I was sent to one of the doctors associated with the med school in Ft. Worth.  After reviewing our situation he refered me to another Doctor at MD Anderson in Houston.  I had to be accepted as a candiate for a study they were doing and I was.
My experience at MD Anderson was a mixed bag of emotions.  I saw the coldness of many who had obviously worked there way too long and the compassion of strangers who took me into their home and cared for me after my surgery so that I wouldn't have to travel back and forth or stay in a hotel..   (thank you once again to the Rice family)
To my doctors I was just another candidate in a long study.
While in recovery, my doctor came in to check on me and couldn't even remember what leg he had just operated on.  I was poked, looked at and discussed by every medical student there, with no regard to my personal feelings.  When it came time to have a pap smear my husband had to show the student how to do it.
I was mortified, and humiliated, scared, worried but always in Gods hands.
He had not abandoned me or forgotten me.  He carried me through it all.
After I got back home I was placed under the care of yet another Doctor in Ft. Worth.  I was expecting the same cold treatment as I experienced a MD Anderson.  I was, however, happily wrong
When it was my turn to go back to have my blood drawn the women asked me my name, not my number. She held my hand for a moment and looked me in the eye.  She asked me about me, and about my family..  Then before she was about to draw the blood she asked me to look at a picture she had on the wall.
It was an amazing picture of the inside of a hurricane.  She told me her brother flies into hurricanes to check the pressure.  He snapped this picture of the very center.
Then she pointed to the center of the hurricane--remember this is inside the hurricane not above.
She asked me to tell her what I saw.
Tears weld up in my eyes as I saw very distinctly the clouds in the definite detailed form of a man in a white robe, and in his arms was a lamb.  You could see every detail...awesome.
She told me, reassured me.that day, that though we go through trials and storms, Jesus our savior is always there, in the midst of the storm, carrying us through it.
He will never leave us of forsake us.
He loves us, OH how He loves us!
Yes, He could have miraculously  healed me before going through all that.  Or He could have never allowed me to have  had cancer at all, but for my good and His glory, He chose to allow me that experience to prove His mercy, His grace, and improve my faith.
My God is faithful and just.

Oh the depth and riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!  For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again?  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever. Amen  ( Romans 11:33-36)

Rejection and rejoicing- setting my feet upon the Rock

There have been times in my life when trouble seemed to be coming from all directions.  During those times Gods expects me to keep my eyes on Him.
He gave us His word, the scriptures, for our help.  He gave us His Holy Spirit for comfort.  We need to rely on Him.
When, then, we have been comforted, and have come through the valley or out of the pit, we are to help others and share in their sufferings.  We are to pray for them and encourage them.
                               We all need it!!
Who can I encourage today?

I never gave the apostle Paul's personal life much thought.  He was the son of a Pharisee, converted to Christ.
Talk about loneliness and rejection!
His family probably disowned him. Those years when he went back home must have been difficult and lonely.
What do you imagine he went through?
I imagine he spent a lot of time praying for his family, trying to live the life he should, trying to teach them Jesus Christ through-out the scriptures.
To be rejected by your family is tough!
One of the most heart breaking moments for me was during my divorce.  Not only had my husband betrayed me and rejected me, but in a blink of an eye, his mother, whom I loved, cast me aside for a new daughter in law and another woman's child -
As though I were dead.
I was dead to her as Paul might have been to his family.
I praise you Lord for Jesus and your Holy Spirit.  Thank you for giving me your precious words of scripture.
Thank you that I did not remain in the pit of despair
I feel for those who don't know you who might be experiencing these things.
Who would they turn to? Who would comfort them in the middle of the night?

What a friend we have in Jesus all my sins and griefs to bear.  What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.

Ps. 103:2-5
Bless the Lord o my soul
and forget none of His benefits
who pardons all your iniquities
who heals all your diseases
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion
who satisfies your years with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle

Pride and Predjudice

.

A couple days ago, Steve was gone and I was watching one of my favorite chic flicks, Pride and Prejudice.  I love that movie!  I have a hard time with the book but I love the movie! I enjoy watching Miss Elizabeth as she grows from being proud, stubborn, and prejudice against the handsome Mr. Darcy  to allowing love to take hold of her.  Had she remained where she was she would never have had the blessings that finally came her way, a home of her own and a man who truly loves her.
We all have prejudices don't we? Mine may be a little different than yours, but we all have them.

As a teenager I had a terrible prejudice against all people from Mississippi.  While growing up in Dallas, my Dad was the head of the mission board at our church and my Mom loves to entertain, so consequently many Sunday afternoon meals included Missionaries and seminary students, many of those from other countries.  I was taught that its not what a person looks like its whats inside that counts.
Our next door neighbors had moved to Dallas from somewhere in Mississippi.  Their daughter and I were the same age and became very good friends.  I had other friends though as well.  One of those friends was a young man who went to the same Bible Study I attended on Thursday nights.  His name was James, and James just happened to be black.
One day James called and asked if I would like to go to the mall and get some ice cream and I love ice cream and shopping so of course I said yes.  When we got back to my house we stood out front and talk for a while before James left to go home.  When I walked in the door my Mom met me in the living-room visibly upset, so much so that she was shacking.  She didn't seem mad just worried.
"Do you think," she said, "that the next time James comes over, maybe he ought to come in through the back door?"     "WHAT!?" I replied  "What are you talking about?"  Then poor Mom confessed she had just received a phone call from a nosy neighbor who told her that if I was going to be receiving "THAT" kind of guest, in the South, they should come to the back door. ( My parents are Yankees).
Mom and I talked for a minute and she soon calmed down and realized what she was saying and that our neighbors anger had just upset her.
That night during my prayers I "TOLD" the Lord that I would do anything and go anywhere He wanted me except Mississippi!!!!
Don't ever TELL the Lord what He can and cannot do.
Here I am, smack dab in the middle of Mississippi!
How I got here is a long story but before you think I'm here to remove the speck from the eye of everyone in the state, let me tell you I have a plank in my own.
First of all I have learned that not everyone here is like my old neighbor.  Yes, there are some, in fact at times I am shocked by what can come out of the mouths of some of the most prim and proper christian ladies, but Ive learned that its just a few like that. There are many loving caring people in this state.
I am learning not to be so judgmental.  I'm trying hard not to assume people are a certain way just because of where they live, who they might be related to, or what they did in the past.  Jesus changes people , that's  His job!.  Mine is to be obedient and love my neighbor as myself.
The Lord works on his people in different ways at different times.  He didn't choose to give me a vision of a sheet coming down from heaven like He did with Peter in Acts 10.  He chose to move me.  To teach me over time that its not about me, it about what will bring glory to Him.
Steve and I were in Aztea having a little tex mex one night and struck up a conversation with a young man who works there.  We asked him why he left Acapulco to come here.  He said for work, a little money and to see beautiful senoritas.  What he said he has learned however, is that its really no different here than anywhere else.  Jobs are hard to find, money is tight, and there are some beautiful women and some ugly ones everywhere you go.
People are people everywhere.
Im so glad the Lord did choose to move me to Mississippi.    It has taken me a while to really be able to say that.  Had I allowed my prejudices to win over obedience to Christ I would never have received the blessings He had planned.  I am now married to one of the sweetest, most loving men in the south.  He loves everyone, and will talk to anyone anywhere.  Had I remained where I was I would not have the wonderful life I have now and a man who truly loves me.
Thank you Jesus for laughing at me when I was 18 and for planning all along to move me to Mississippi.

Time on my Hands and family history

As you read this please be understanding..I am on my mothers computer and for some reason the spell check is not working.  I can get it to tell me what I have mispelled but it will not correct it for me.  And since I am the worlds worse speller mistakes are inevitable.  It is amazing to me that my children are at all educated since I homeschooled them.  All I can say is Thank God for tapes and satellite school.

Im in Dallas this week caring for my Mom who recently had surgery on her shoulder.   When she is awake Im very busy but when she naps I find myself with not much to do.  The house is clean, dishes washed, laudry done.

On Monday I thought I would educate myself and took down Harold Hoehners commentary on Ephesians ..hahha
I dont know Greek so after reading his take on election, and most of it elected to fly right over my head, I put the book back on the shelf.

Then I went to my Dads office and found 2 books on the Kinsman family.  I have found some very interesting things out about my ancestors.
The book begins "by reference to the Pedigree"..... as if we are a litter of puppies.  The earliest record of the Kinsman family was in 1337 in Northamptonshire England,   I will skip quite a bit of it but highlight the items I found of interest.

As a note to keep the confusion down, I have found that people years ago would spell names and other words in many differet ways.  Obviously they didnt have spell check either.  Because of that, Kinsman was also spelled Kynesman, Kinnesman, and Kingsman.

I have always loved English history, mideveal times , castles, Kings and stories of court etc..  so when I read that our ancestor William Kynnesman actually lived in a castle , or rather at least,  died in the castle in Northampton I had to smile...so cool
Another guy,Robert, was a soilder for the King.( if I understand the story correctly) Unfortunatly for him, during the reign of King Charles the first, when there was a civil war between the King and his parliament, he was "compelled to retire beyond the seas"  but later returned to England where he paid a fine and was himself...fine. Then in 1420 Simon Kynesman became a member of Parliment , obtained a license to have mass in his own mansion, and became the sheriff of Northamptonshire in the 9th year of King Henry the V.
It was in 1634 that Robert Kinsman ( he spelled his name Kingsman but dropped the g upon arrival in the new world) sailed on the "Mary and John" to New England and settled in Ipswich.  Then I believe we became the trouble makers.
In 1687 the son of emigrant Robert, also named Robert Kinsman, rose up along with 3 other men and said that their govenor did not have the right to tax them..they wrote a complaint against said Edmund Androsse and were then sent to Boston for trail, found guilty and put in prison.  They were later released but Robert Kinsman was told he could no longer hold office, was fined 20 pounds then also fined 500 pounds as bond as he was "on good behavior for one year".However, in 1692 Robert was elected to officeof Deputy to the general court by the good people of Ipswich after the gov. was forced to leave office.  He was also quartermaster, what ever that is.
We skip ahead now to 1776 and another Kinsman, John.
He was 23 years of age in enrolled an an ensign in a company of Conneticut militia, marching to New York, to take position under Gen. Washington, in the defense of his country. He was in Gen Huntingtons regiment and part of the Battle of Long Island.  He was taken prisoner and put in a prison ship.  he remailed there" suffering close confinement, suffering from filth, vermin and near starvation."  Later, Washington wrote a letter asking that John and another man be "exchanged" so that they could "enter into service again"
He did not return to service though but instead remailed in New york and made hats for the army.  Later (1797) he was elected as a representative to the State legislator.  Then after 3 years in office moved to Ohio where he had purchased a bunch of land as a stock holder in the Conneticut land company.
The family continues to branch and branch so that in the 8th generation Monroe Kinsman of Willet, Courtland, NY has a son named Francis.  Francis has a son named Ellwood and Ellwood has a son named Frank.  Then poor Frank has 4 daughters of which I am #3.
So there is my family history the short version. (Remember I said there were 2 volumes in my Dads office)  I hope you were not bored to death.

Sweet Memories and Siesta Memory Verse for April 1st

March 31, 1983

Just the day before I was told by my doctor to just go home, put my feet up and prepare to wait a while because "this baby isn't coming anytime soon"..   Little did he know that the little girl I was carrying, the one he liked to refer to as "Charlie Brown" because of her perfectly round head, was going to be a very punctual, responsible, young lady.
I went home that afternoon of the 30th and did as my doctor said.  March 31st was my due date, but this was my first, and firsts are always late...right?  That evening I began to have contractions.  By about 7 or 8pm they were 4 minutes apart.  We lived in east Dallas and my hospital was in Plano, which is quite a ways away.  I drove into Dallas and picked my husband up from work and told him about the contractions.  I had my bag with me and suggested we go to my parents house and call the doctor.  So that is what we did.
My doctor was surprised but not too concerned.  He told me to relax and call him in an hour.  So I took a shower and dried my hair and then called him.  " they are 2 minutes apart"  I said..."well ok I guess come on up to the hospital and lets monitor them.  But don't be surprised if they stop and I send you home."he replied.
So up to Plano General Hospital we went.  And YES  I was definitely in labor.!
They put me in a room and placed monitors all over me and we waited.  I remember there was a Three Stooges marathon on TV because my Doctor and  my husband sat on the couch next to me watching it and telling jokes.  They only seemed to notice me when I would scream "get over here!!! rub my back!!!  don't touch me!!!  and other things such as that.
This went on for a long long long time!  But this little girl wasn't budging.  They broke my water...nothing new.....more yelling, panting etc..no baby.
The new young nurse thought we had lost the babies heart beat.  It turned out one of the monitors had fallen off.  Her boss yelled at her right out side my door.  Poor thing.
Then, after 12 hours, and total exhaustion on my part, it was determined that the cord was dropping but not the baby, so they quickly whisked me away to delivery  for a c-section and Rachel Lin  was born on the morning of March 31st, her due date.
I named her Rachel, my little lamb.  She was and is still, a sweet young lady.    She is smart, responsible and gracious.  She was a joy to raise and is now a joy to watch as she raises her own son.
I love you Rachel!  very very very much!

I chose for this weeks Siesta Memory verse, John 10:27-28   My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.

The Battle of Fireplace Hill

This is the last of the Three stories about Hunter.  This one he may have been 5 , I'm not sure, but no older than that.

Never before and never again will there be a battle as intense as the one between Hunter, GI Joe, and an entire tribe of Indians on Fireplace Hill.
It all started on a gray dreary day.  Hunter and GI Joe were laying in their boat in the blue sea of carpet.  They were anchored just off the island of Fireplace.  Their unit had captured the island from the cowboys just days before  and Hunter and GI Joe had been left to stand guard while the rest of the unit took the prisoners to jail across the sea.
GI Joe was keeping watch while Hunter slept.  With it being so hazy and quiet near the beach GI Joe started to doze off as well.  Suddenly, he was shaken from his sleepiness by a loud shrill cry!  He jumped to his feet grabbing his gun.  He gave Hunter a soft kick and woke him up.  "Hunter, I think there is someone on the island." he said.  " Don't be silly" said Hunter, " We've captured all the cowboys, there was no-one left."
"But I".....GI Joe did not get to finish his sentence because just then there was another loud shrill cry!  Hunter froze in his tracts. "I've heard that sound before, its , its, INDIANS!!"
Hunter and GI Joe could now see hundreds of Indians coming over the top of fireplace Hill.  They had bows and arrows and some even had guns.  Hunter knew they were out numbered.  He turned to GI Joe and asked "what shall we do?".  He thought about leaving the island in their boat, but then he remembered his commander had told him to guard the island from invaders.  "we must fight Hunter, even if it means we die."replied GI Joe.   Hunter shivered but then grew straight and tall.  "Lets get um!!" he sneered.
They grabbed their guns and jumped from their boat to the beach.  "CHARGE!"  they both shouted,  and up the hill they ran. They were hidden from the Indians behind some palm trees.  From here GI Joe and Hunter could take a short break and plan their attack.  " How do you think they got here?"  asked GI Joe.  "By boat I guess, on the other side of the island."  said Hunter.
"But why do you think they came?" GI Joe asked.  Hunter thought and thought..Then he looked up  "thats why!"  he whispered.
Just coming over the crest of the hill  followed by a band of Indians was one lone cowboy.  " He must have escaped and swam to the Indian's island and got them to help him get the island back." said Hunter.  "We've got to get him first", said GI Joe, If we get him maybe the Indians will think we are powerful and run away."  Hunter liked GI Joe's idea.  "I can get him with my Lazar gun, but its so loud once i shoot it all the Indians will know where we are" said Hunter    "It is our only chance"  sighed GI Joe.
Hunter stood up, aimed his lazar gun and ZAP! "Got Him!"   But they had been right about the noise.  All the Indians saw the boys hiding in the palm trees.
Some of the Indians got scared when they saw the cowboy fall down.  They ran as fast as they could, back to the boats.  However, some remained.  They came tearing down the hill shouting and screaming an Indian war cry.  Hunter and GI Joe jumped from behind the trees and ran straight for the Indians, shooting as they went.  It looked hopeless to the boys, and to make matters worse, after only knocking down only a few Indians their guns broke!  They looked at each other with panic in their eyes.  They knew this was the end.
The Indians kept shooting.  All they could do now was dodge the arrows and bullets and look for a way of escape.  Then suddenly, Hunter saw something bright and shiny hidden under a fern.  It was a giant yellow crayon, and it could shoot like a gun.  Hunter grabbed the yellow crayon but then tossed it to GI Joe, narrowly missing an arrow that stuck in the tree beside him.  Hunter thought, GI Joe was a better shot.  He pulled the trigger on the bottom of the crayon just in time.  A large Indian stood right before him.  The crayon magically became a machine gun and in minutes they wiped out the whole tribe of Indians.
The fireplace was safe!
Hunter and GI Joe walked back to their boat and ate a snack of cookies and milk.  It had been a long day and they were tired, but the rest they wanted so badly would have to wait.
Just when they were about to lay down Hunter felt someone's presence behind him.. Slowly he turned around... it was a lady who looked like a MOM !  .  " Hunter! " she said softly,   "are you coming or not?!  We're late for church!!"
Stunned, but only for a moment,  Hunter jumped up, grabbed GI Joe and threw him into the Moms purse.  "Were off to another adventure!!" he cried.

Where Clouds Come From.....or ...The Pea People

This is the 2nd story out of the three that I wrote down about Hunter when he was 4 years old.  For those of you reading this who don't know who Hunter is , he is my son, now 21 years old.  He has always had a great imagination.  This story he "lived out" on the way to church one morning but later that day he told me what he had been imagining,  I recorded it then wrote it down.

On the road that leads from Hunters home on the bay to the big city, there are many factories.  These factories give off horrible odors and fill the air with smoke.  Hunter was sitting in the back seat of his, so called, "limo" one foggy Sunday morning on his way to Church.  His driver, a man with glasses who calls himself "Dad", said something about these odors, obviously not liking them.
Hunter pondered these things in his huge brain and looked out the window.  These factories didn't seem so bad to him.  Then suddenly the sky turned all pink and rosy.  The factories changed shape and became a beautiful shiny gold machine!
Hunter called for his driver to stop.  He got out of the limo and walked down to these pure gold machines.  The doors opened automatically for him like the doors at the grocery store.  The men inside bowed down low as Hunter walked down a long narrow hallway.  The walls were lit up by  a thousand pink lights that made the gold walls gleam.  He turned a corner and went through a pair of massive doors opened by two soldiers in bright red uniforms and fuzzy white hats.  The room was filled with one very long table where dozens of other 4 year old boys sat in chairs too large for them.  Hunter took his place at the head of the table , for this was his machine!
"What is the meaning of this?!" Hunter yelled, smashing his fist to the table. "Why are my cloud machines making the air smell?"  He began to pace around the table with his hands behind his back.  "How can this be?  When God asked me to make clouds for him he never said make them stink!  Who is responsible for this?"  Hunter stopped suddenly and again rammed his fist to the table.  Every boy jumped out of his seat and down again, the force of the blow was so great.  No-one said a word, Batman was playing on the overhead T.V. and even Hunter was drawn to it for a moment.  When the show was over, however, Hunter asked the big lady in the corner to turn it off so they could get back to business..
"What is making our clouds stink?" Hunter asked again.  "God will not be happy.  What will happen when it rains?"  This brought the other boys to their senses for they then realized that if the rain smells bad they could not put on their Barney Raincoats and play out in it.  Something had to be done!  They must find the cause.
One boy named Peavey jumped up in his chair in his uniform of Turtle underwear and yelled, "Lets become firemen and climb tall ladders to where the clouds come out and see what we can find."    A cheer went up from the crowd "Lets do it men!!" cheered Hunter.
Suddenly they were all wearing yellow slickers and bright red firemen hats with black boots.  They ran from the room carrying a long ladder over their heads.  Down the hallway they raced until they came to the first cloud stack.  "Who will go up first?"  Hunter asked.  " I will" said Peavey  "This was my idea".  "Hurray !" they all shouted and up the ladder Peavey went.  He peered over into the machine but the awful stench knocked him off his feet and he fell off the ladder.  Down , down he fell, until a boy named Brian turned himself into superman and flew up to catch Peavey.  Again there was a cheer.  "Hurray for Brian!"  Then a hush fell over them.  "What will we do now?" choked Peavey.  "It smells so bad!  It smells like..like..PEAS!!!!"
"AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" they all screamed.  "We must get to the bottom of this" said Hunter.
Just then another boy named Micah said. "Lets become spy's and search through the whole machine." At this great idea they all transformed into trench coats and wool hats.  Each boy was given a special watch phone  so they could each order their own pizza for the celebration afterward.  Away they raced.  "Charge!" they shouted.
They came into a big room filled with conveyor belts and other gold, small machines.  These small machines were being run by tiny elves, all except one.
At the end of the longest conveyor belt sat an old women.  Everyone called her Grandma.
The boys watched carefully, hidden behind a bunch of boxes.  Then Hunter saw what was making the awful smell.  Grandma was mashing peas into pea soup and pouring them onto the conveyor belt.  That belt went right up into the cloud stack.
Grandma must be stopped, but how?  " I have a plan", whispered Hunter.  "We will change back into little boys in our underwear, and we shall run around Grandma in circles and yell until she can stand  it no longer.  Then she will stop and say "Lets go to McDonald's!" and we will never have smelly clouds again."
The plan worked and the boys got to go to McDonald's.  Hunter was a hero, and God was happy too.
Suddenly Hunter was back in the van/limo with his family on his way to Church.  Dad asked " What are you doing Hunter?"  Hunter couldn't possibly put into a few words all that he had just done , so he said,"those aren't stinky factories, those are cloud machines and they are making clouds for God".
Mom and Dad smiled and drove on.

"There is no Such Thing as Squash" or "In Hunter's World"

In this world you shall have tribulations....but not in Hunters world.  At least not anything that would last longer than five minutes,  like Dads spankings or Moms fussing at you, but nothing more serious than that.  Of course the world as Hunter knows it will come to an end if his sister gets to watch "Alice in Wonderland" when he wanted to watch "Ninja Turtles"  , or the days that "Batman" doesn't come on T.V at all .  But, in Hunters world, if you just think for a second, you can BECOME Batman or anything else you want to be.  Moms black slip makes a great cape and an old box is the perfect Bat-mobile.  But don't take more than a second because there is no such thing as patience in Hunters world and definitely no such thing as sitting still.  The punishment for sitting still in Hunter's world is very sever! You could be kissed by an old lady wearing lipstick or, heaven forbid, you might fall asleep.  No-one ever wants to fall asleep in Hunter's world.  If you do you will surely miss out on all the finer things in life.
In this wonderful world everyone is four years old and knows everything about everything.  Everything that is except how to read, but that is what a big sister is for, and who cares about reading when you can get someone else to do it for you.
In Hunter's world nothing is too big, or out of reach.  Just a little bit of mind over matter will get you anything you want, and you want everything!  This world is like a little piece of heaven.  You never get too sick to run outside in your underwear and there is never any pain.  You can jump over the last few steps on the stairs, roll a few feet and smash head first into the bottom edge of the piano and jump up untouched and happy as a lark, because you are the "Crimson Avenger" and you have power in your sword!
Eating in Hunter's world is a fun thing to do if you have the time.  But who has time?  Someone always needs to be saved or your sister has turned you into a kitten.  If you do take time to eat you stand in your chair and talk nonstop with your mouth full.  Of course, clothes are not allowed, so you will be eating in your underwear with your gun stuck through the elastic.   When you are finished eating you jump off your chair to save the world and always spill your milk.  Messes, after all, are necessary in Hunter's world.  They are the essence of life!  To go a day without a few messes means a trip to the doctor, and no-one wants to go to the doctor in Hunter's world.
What about brushing your teeth you ask?  HA!  We laugh at toothpaste!  There are a million things you can do to keep from doing that!  Remember, you are a "Pow-wa Ranger" and you can turn yourself into a robot.  Robots don't have teeth.
In Hunter's world there is no bedtime.  There is only that time after the sun has gone to bed, and everyone else in the house too, when you switch your imagination to auto-pilot and allow your massive set of muscles to rest while you dream of more adventures.  As soon as the first adventure dream is over though, you climb out of your small bed and go to the biggest bed int he house where you press your cold piggie toes against the grown up next to you, then a new day begins.
Breakfast is served on demand while you watch "Bowinkle Moose" or "Tiny toons" on the floor of the living-room.  Your juice (apple of course) will be served in your very own "Barney" sippy cup, filled to the top and turned just right so you see Barney's face with every sip.  If for some reason, Mom doesn't get this right, you can take it back and show her how to do it.  Be kind though, remember, Moms don't know as much as those in Hunter's world.
I've heard people say that cooking is girl stuff, but not in Hunter's world.  Macaroni and cheese with hot dogs is a gourmet treat and everyone wants to put the cheese in.  Going to church is not a sissy thing either, after all, Brian is there and Brian is Robin!
Your life long verse will be " I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength"  You know that God has power and that makes Him pretty cool.
The sad thing about Hunter's world to us mere mortals, is that in his world there is no-one else but Hunter  From time to time he will allow a sister or friend to join him, or on rare occasions even Mom or Dad, but you cant stay there, it is a world belonging only to him.  It is a wonderful world where there is no such thing as squash.

Just a quick note about blogs to come!

A few days ago I was digging through some boxes and came across a note book with some hand written stories in them.  They were stories I had written about my son Hunter when he was 4 years old.  Please understand I did not make these stories up!  Actually, Hunter did.  All I did was write down from the imagination of a 4 year old boy, some pretty funny stories.
I hope to have the first one up either later today or hopefully by tomorrow.  The first one is called " There is no Such Thing as Squash"
If you have a toddler, boy or girl, I think you will enjoy these.
Now I'm off to speak at Kiwanas Club about Harvest Camp.  Steve sent me a text at 9am this morning to tell me I'm speaking.  Haha I had no idea!  I'm not a public speaker . But its not about me so off I go!

Siesta Memory verse for March 15th Grace and Peace

I had decided before this past week that I would choose Philippians 4:5-7  (NCV) for my memory verse, " Let everyone see that you are gentle and kind.  The Lord is coming soon.  Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.  And Gods peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. "                      HOWEVER,
with all the busyness of these past few days I chose a shorter verse ....Romans 11:6  "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise, grace is no longer grace."

Actually, these two verse work together.  You see, it is grace which will allow me to be able to be kind ad gentle.  It is because of the grace of God I can "not" worry but have a peace that no one can understand.   It is Jesus and His spirit dwelling in me that causes me to do things like forgive, praise Him even in bad circumstances, rest, and be content in everything.

All this is out there....available to me....because of grace.
I don't deserve it, I cannot do enough good to deserve it , but in His mercy, He saved me and by His grace, He indwells me.
We are told in Philippians 4:8 to meditate on the things which are good, pure and true   Scripture tells us to keep the word of God in our hearts ( memorize it) then when circumstances arise trying to get our focus off Christ and steal our joy, we can "recall" or meditate on those scriptures and our circumstances will grow dim, our faith will grow, and we will have a peace that no one can understand.

Lord I pray that I would be gentle and kind, that I would show your love to others.
You are coming soon.
Lord help me not to let worry over come me, but to give all my needs to You in prayer.  Lord may I rejoice in You even when I don't like whats going on around me.  And Lord Jesus, give me peace!  A peace so strong, so sweet it would be hard to understand, even in hard times.
Keep my mind on You and Your Word.
Thank you  for your grace that makes all this possible
Amen.

p.s.  I guess I will memorize both of these verses this time!

"Safe" by Phil Wickham feat. Bart Millard (with lyrics)

Praying for Japan

Over the past week or so I've been watching my stats on this little blog.  I don't really know why, I guess it just interests me to see that anyone would want to read what I have to say.
I dont have that many readers,  just a small handful.. But over this past week Ive noticed that someone or a couple someones, from Japan have read this blog.  (about 8 hits from Japan)

If you are out there, if you come back again, I want you to know that you are being prayed for today and I will keep you in my prayers.  If it is at all possible, let me know you are safe.
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, remember that you are not alone.  You have many other believers around the world praying for you today.   ( Ecc.4:9) Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.  For if either of them falls the one will lift up his companion...

Ps. 9: 9-10  The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, and those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee, for Thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee.

If you do not know my savior I want you to know, Jesus loves you.
John 3:16-18   For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have ever lasting life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not judged, he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.

Anyone else who might happen upon this blog post today, pray for the people of Japan.  May God protect them and watch over them, and may His Holy Spirit comfort them.

Words of Encouragement

Has anyone ever just said one thing to you and it changed your life?
One word of encouragement or perhaps, one word of destruction?

Our words are powerful tools.  With the words that flow from our mouths we can be a Timothy or Epaphroditus
( Philippians 2:19-30) men who's love shows, or we can be a small flame of destruction, setting an entire forest on fire. ( James 3:5)

Today I am remembering a very sweet women.  I had the honor of serving under her for a very short time but in that short time she changed the direction of my life.
Her name is Gini Hoehner.
We were working together in our church back in the early 80"s with Pioneer Girls.
I admired her!  You could just "see" Jesus in her!
I respected her and would do anything she asked of me because I could tell she walks with God.

One evening, during class, she asked me to explain something to the girls or teach them something,, I don't
even remember  what it was.  As soon as I finished though she took me by the arm and pulled me aside where no-one else could hear.  I didn't know what she was about to say or do.
In her sweet, kind way she said "Cheryl, God has given you a very special gift.  He has given you the ability to explain things in such a simple way, that anyone can understand."
Now to someone else that may not sound significant but for me it was the right words at just the right time.
From then on, the Lord gave me a passion to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with children.  I spent the next 21 years of my life devoted to that cause...to tell as many children as I could about Jesus.

As I have gotten older, I'm not around children as much as I use to be but I still have that desire to make sure every child knows Jesus loves them.
Mrs. Hoehner probably never realized what an impact those words would have.  I moved away shortly after that and I have not had the opportunity to speak with her since.
But today I want to say Thank you to Mrs. Gini Hoehner, who's sweet words of encouragement made all the difference.

Thank you Dr. P, remember those who led you .

Last week I had the opportunity to go to an awesome conference Called Advance the Church.  I sat under the teaching of some wise and godly men, very young men!  I was encouraged by their desire to preach the word of God and teach the Gospel of Christ, giving God all the glory!
It made me start to think about my past-where I came from and who has taught me the word of God.
I have been most fortunate.
I don't understand why God allowed me, a no-body, to have such blessings.
The Lord placed me in a certain place at a certain time under the teaching of many godly men.
Because of their example and willingness to serve Christ and teach His gospel, I have been rooted and grounded in faith.
I love Jesus, and I love the word of God, because someone else took the time and effort to study and teach.
So, having said this, I would like to thank a very dear, Godly, and wise man for all he did for me.

Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost
Thank you, thank you, thank you! for loving us enough to teach us faithfully the word of God.
Because of you I love studying the scriptures  Because of you I was grounded in the faith at a young age and I know whom I believe!.
You are precious to me because you shared your knowledge with us.
I have continued in the faith, firmly established, I have not moved away from the hope of the gospel. ( col. 1:23) that I heard from you.
You were my first pastor, and I am most fortunate because you preached the word of God.
For all you pastors out there, especially you young pastors, be encouraged.
Preach Christ!
We are listening.
Thank you Dr. P, I am "overflowing with gratitude"  ( Col. 2:7)

Hebrews 13:7   Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you, and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.

They had the party in their church family center.

She chose a "Nemo" theme.  :)

Her sisters were there as well!
Even Horton came
They played hot potato and had a Nemo pinata

Even with the cold wet weather everyone came and had a wonderful time.

Happy birthday Linley, Papa and Gigi love you very much!

The Gospel of Christ is EVERYTHING

Before time- there was God-He created the universe and us, mankind, with a plan and a purpose.
It was no surprise to Him that we would fail.
But in His mercy, He loves us, and made a way for sinful man to be in the presence of a Holy God forever!
Someone had to pay the price.
Someone had to be punished for the sins of the world.
And it had to be someone who had done no wrong.  If it could be anyone, sinful man, it would not be an offering, or sacrifice at all, but merely payment due for that one persons debt.
Because we all sin, and fall short of Gods Glory, we fall short of His Holiness.
So it had to be a perfect sinless human.
Yet, no-one was found in all the earth who was not sinful.
So God in His mercy, sacrificed Himself.  Sending a part of Himself, yet all of Himself, in the form of a man, Jesus.
And so, Jesus came.  He lived among us, suffered and struggled in a human body as we do, yet without sin.
He taught us the mysteries of the kingdom of God.  And when it was Gods time, He offered Himself up as a sacrifice, the perfect lamb, slain for the sins of the world.
                                              He died on the cross
                                              for you  and for me
                                             once-for all.
The Messiah

And, to the Glory of God, as He and scripture predicted, He rose from the grave!
Hallelujah!

Now, He stands at the right hand of God the Father, interceding on our behalf.
He offers to all mankind the free gift of eternal life to anyone who will simply believe!
Believe that He is who He says He is and did what He said He would do.
Just believe-and you will be saved!
Once-and for all.
The free gift of the grace of God.
And to every believer is given the spirit of God, at the moment of salvation, to be with us, comfort, guide, instruct, admonish, and seal us in Him for all eternity.
                                    The victory is won!

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence if His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever, Amen.
(Jude 24-25)

Siesta Memory Verse for March the 1st

I'm so tired this morning!  I went to get some coffee and forgot to put the little pod in the coffee maker so I ended up with just creamy water.  gross.  Im also thankful this morning for spell check.
My brain must be on overload 'cause it took me 3 tries to spell siesta right.
The past 2 days have been amazing.
I had the privilege to sit under the teaching of some awesome godly men and study the book of Colossians and the Supremacy of Christ in the church.
I will blog more about that after my brain has stopped swimming with all the information.

But today is Siesta memory verse day!!!  So I decided to choose the verse David Platt chose to speak on.  He was the last speaker and he was asked to speak on the Supremacy of Christ in Missions.  wow..thats all I can say.
I have heard him speak many times, at Secret Church and podcasts of his sermons at Brookhills, but he never ceases to amaze me.  Or better, God never ceases to amaze me with the mercy and gifts he has given to his people.  Tony Merida introduced David as a prophet for our time, and I believe that's true.  He speaks the word of God!  He challenges us to rethink all the traditions and trappings of the organized church.  And he reminds us, that our purpose here is not to be comfortable in our christianity, but to go to the hard places and share the good news of Jesus Christ!
If you have never read his book "Radical"  I highly recommend it.  I will even gladly GIVE you a copy!
So, here is my verse for March 1st
Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come.

Today is a special Day

I am very fortunate to be a part of a small group of believers.  We meet every Sunday morning in a local hotel for a time of Bible Study and great discussion
We started out about 2 yrs ago now, with about 4 to 6 people.  Over time the group has grown and evolved into a group of about 10 to 12 who are loving studying Gods word and striving to apply His truths to our lives..
Our group as a whole is not a part of any one local Church. We are all from different denominations and walks of life.
We start at about 9am and sometimes don't end until noon.  We stay as long as it takes to read, and discuss the scripture for that day (we are currently going through the book of Acts) and then we share our lives with each other and pray for needs.
We are involved in each others lives.
We don't go out to eat with each other all the time or call each other every day, but we know whats going on in each others lives, and we care.

Tonight is a special night.  One of our own is being honored at a special dinner and we are all going to stand with him and confirm him!  Today marks his 1 year anniversary of being sober.
He has struggled with alcoholism for many many years.  But as he has given his life to Christ, and with the help and support of friends, family and AA, he is a new creation.
Ken, we are so proud of you, and we, along with you, give God all the glory!

Philippians 2:1-2
If there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

Phil. 2:3

Frustration -  someone is not doing what he promised

My schedule - Its not happening when I want it to

I want it done and I want it done NOW!

But wait, where is he?

What is he doing?

Is he sick, old and tired?
I don't know, I haven't cared.

I should care.  Care enough to pray for him.  Care enough to want what is best for him and not me.

Let God work all this out in His timing and He will get all the glory.!.........
and I wont look like a thoughtless nag.

Do Nothing from selfishness or empty conceit.  But with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself.

Feb 22nd

Siesta memory verse for Feb 15th.
Phil. 2:3
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself.

I just returned from spending 10 glorious days in Baltimore babysitting my adorable grandson Gareth!  OH! I had sooooo much fun!

He loves his Gigi and his Gigi loves him!
I was reminded of my younger days, raising 3 little ones.  My world revolved around them.  My actions, motives, all for them and what Jesus would have me do in their regard.
I was reminded of how "not" to be selfish.  It has been easy to fall into the selfish mode after my children grew up and moved out.  Having a wonderful husband who cares for me hasn't helped. (Not that I would want that to change)
But I was happy serving Gareth.  Im alwasy happy taking care of someone else who needs me.
I have a good life!
God has blessed me!
Im going to try my best to not complain.  I was never in the past been a negative complainer.
I need to find the balance between standing firm on what I believe the Lord has called me to and not sounding negative
Things I dont want to forget about my trip:
  1. How he rolled on his belly looking at me through the slats in his crib, and blew me a kiss good night.
  2. holding him, rocking him while he had a stuffy nose at night.
  3. His laugh
  4. How he says Gigi in a whisper
  5. The dancing to Nickjr
  6. How he said his prayers at night
  7. snuggling- he would play with my hair
  8. The trip to TCBY
  9. Bath time- the ducky would "get him" and he would laugh so hard!.
  10. Hugging my neck while playing chase and whispering in his little language "I luv you gigi"
Thank you Jesus for my grandson.  Bless him, may he be a man who loves you and desires above all else to serve You.  amen

Siesta Memory Verse #3

I was going to choose Zech. 4:6 ....not by might nor by power, but by my spirit says the Lord of hosts.

But really I already knew that one. I just didn't remember the reference. So instead, I have chosen Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble
and He knows those who take refuge in Him.

He knows us!
It was that truth that first brought me to Him.
When my Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Minor, told me about the Good Shepherd. She told me He loves me, He knows me, He calls me by name. He knows even how many hairs are on my head, and He cares!
Even at the young age of 6, I wanted a savior like that!
I wanted Jesus. I wanted to be a sheep in His fold.
He has never let me down.
He has never turned His back on me or let me wander too far.
He gently leads me, sometimes with a whisper, sometimes with His staff.

I need thee, oh I need thee, every hour I need thee. Oh bless me now my savior, I come to thee.

Chris August - Starry Night

Jan. 15th Siesta Memory verse

Is.45:8
Drip down, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds pour down righteousness, Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit, and righteousness spring up with it. I, the Lord, have created it.

I love your creation Lord!
I especially love looking at the stars at night.
They are not there just for our enjoyment, although they do bring us great joy.
They have a purpose. There is a plan.
This past week we saw in the news about a girl who discovered a super nova.
The death of a star.
Then we saw how another girl discovered a green mass in space-The birth of a galaxy.
You, O Lord, are eternal!
You never change!
You were, are and always will be "The Creator"
How foolish are we to believe that you would create once and never again.
You are continually creating.
For our human, finite, minds, it would be like saying to Rembrandt after his first masterpiece, "OK, that's nice, you cant do anymore".
A creative being must create. You created us in your image. If we continue to create, imagine new things, explore and expand, that comes from You, so of course...SO ARE YOU!
You O Lord are AWESOME !

Our Day at Galatoirs.........My first Oyster Ever

Jan 15th 2011 Double Dating

To Whom it may concern,
Yesterday I went on a double date. Yes, with my husband ! along with his mother (82) and her new beau Joe. I really wasn't sure what to expect, double dating with the "old folks" but we actually had a very good time.
Nelda had been asking us to take her to Galatoires in New Orleans. She said she wanted to go back "one more time before she dies" lol
So we all got dressed up and headed to Bourbon Street.
I had heard of Galatoires, but had never been. Little did I know the experience that awaited me.
It began the moment we were seated and our Russian speaking waiter placed my napkin in my lap. He handed me the large green menu and my eyes danced as I read the lists of creative amazing dishes and sauces. This is going to be good , I thought.
Since Nelda ( Steve's mom) was paying, we decided to let her choose the appetizers. She chose fried eggplant and Oysters Rockefeller......my two least favorite foods. Oh well, I said to my self, the bread and butter are wonderful.
Our waiter first brought 2 small bowls. One was a creamy sauce and the other was powdered sugar....I was intrigued
Then he brought out the eggplant, but it didn't look like the eggplant I was use to. Instead of the round, still soft in the middle or fried to a burned crisp, disks, it looked more like zucchini and cut in strips. He said to dip it in the sugar, then the sauce...the results was a sweet , melt-in-your mouth delight. I was inspired!!
Never in my life had I tasted an oyster....they just look gross!
I thought if I was ever going to taste one, this should be the place. After all, it was cooked, and covered in spinach. So, while everyone watched, and my husband documented the momentous moment with my phone camera, I ate my first ever (at age 53) oyster. It wasn't bad.
What followed after that was nothing less than sheer uninhibited delight, as we each ate , shared, sampled and stuffed ourselves with Galatoires artistry.
As I twittered at the end of the meal..." I think I have died and gone to culinary heaven".

You would think after such a meal we would roll ourselves back to our car and go home for a nap, but our day was not over. Joe wanted to see the new WW2 Museum so off we went. It is expensive, ($18.00) but very interesting and educational. I was totally loving it!! However poor Nelda and Joe had had it after only going about halfway through so we had to leave. I do hope to go back though someday and finish what we started.

Now you would assume we would head home. Bellies full, tired, Nelda's feet hurting...but no...
You cannot go to New Orleans and NOT go to Cafe Du Monde. We split 2 orders of beignets and had our coffee , then yes we went home.

Joe and Nelda fell asleep for part of the trip home in the back seat like 2 little kids after a trip to the Zoo.

We had a great time!!!!!!

Cont....Memory verse 2nd Corth. 2:8 Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. (nas)

So that you can follow my train of thought here, I'm doing a study of 2nd Corinthians by Max Lucado.

I'm thinking today about changes. Our lives always seem to be changing.
One day I think we are going in one direction and the next day the winds change and we go in a different direction.
I wonder sometimes if we are following Christ, or our own desires.
These things I know to be true.....1. God put Steve and I together-for love, blessings, and to do His will
2. family is important but Christ and His kingdom is more important
3. He has entrusted Harvest and Three Fold Ministries to us. US, not just Steve, not just me. We are to seek His will together.

While studying 2nd Corinthians I read this today by Max Lucado
" One thing we can count on for sure is the unpredictability of life. If we commit to follow Christ, the Good Shepherd, we should expect the unexpected. Sometimes divinely allowed or orchestrated events will block our path. Gods spirit will suddenly nudge us down a different course. In some situations our "new" plans or diversion may be viewed as foolish by others. Our wisdom and character, perhaps even our sanity, will be called into question. Our calling is not to do what is wise in the worlds eyes, nor is it to take the popular course of action. Rather than wrangle with God, we are to submit to His leading, however "odd" it might seem."

Siesta Memory verse Jan 1 2011

I have made the commitment to memorize scripture this year with the siestas.
This is a group of women who blog with Beth Moore on her LPM blog. We have to memorize and log into the blog twice a month, the 1st and 15th with a new verse that we choose to memorize. I'm doing this just for myself, but decided to include it in my blog so that I will attempt to have some accountability...even if it is only to my cyber self.

Jan 1st 2011
I chose 2nd Corinthians 2:8
Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. (nas)

The beginning of the new year is a good time to renew our love for all people.
For me, I need to reaffirm my love for my husband who loves me dearly.
Not that I don't love him, I do, very much, but sometimes I don't show it.
I also need to reaffirm my love for Jesus, my savior, the one who loves me unconditionally.
Not that I don't love Him, I do, but sometimes I don't show it.

Jn. 14:15 If you love me you will keep my commandments.
Ps. 119:165 Those who love thy law have great peace and nothing causes them to stumble

How do we show our love for Christ?
We keep His commandments. It is not out of drudgery, or because I have to, but because of love.
My love for Him and my love for His commands.
His law brings peace and is itself, wisdom.
Proverbs 8:34-35 Blessed is the man who listens to me (wisdom) watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorpost. For he who finds me (wisdom) finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord.
2nd Corinthians was written by Paul to the Corinthians asking them to forgive a brother and reaffirm their love for him. This brother had caused problems and division in the church in Corinth. Paul was urging the other believers to forgive him, and move on.
The reason he gave for this was to restore their joy and Paul's and 2nd to help this man so that he would no longer be burdened with the guilt of what he had done. (dividing the church) and 3rd to keep satan from having another opportunity to cause more mischief in the body of Christ. ( the message)
In my own personal life I see this year as a time to "move on"
I forgave the offender many years ago but he continues to cause problems for me and my family. Perhaps out of guilt for what he did, or not wanting to accept responsibility for what he did.
Whatever his reasons for continuing as he does, it is time to let go of my own rights and let God deal with this man as He see's fit. And also, to allow the Lord to work in our lives ( mine and Steve's) without this added trouble. Perhaps God will bless us beyond all we can imagine if we will take that step of faith.

My prayer is for wisdom, patience, and guidance.
For Steve to agree with me on this decision because he will be responsible for picking up the slack financially.
And for God's blessings for doing what seems at this time to be the thing to do..
