I am not Ashamed of the Gospel

Our Sunday Morning Bible Study group at the Microtel Hotel in Columbia Ms just started a study of the book of Romans.  We ended our first day with chp 1 vs 17.  It is those last 2 verses (16 and 17) that to me are so important and give a great overview and explanation of salvation and the gospel ( good news) of Jesus Christ.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel....
What is the gospel?   That Jesus is the Christ, messiah, the Son of God, who came and was born of a virgin.  He lived a life like ours yet without sin.  He was crucified on the cross and took the punishment that we deserved.  He died, was buried, then 3 days later He rose from the dead.  He walked, talked and ate on this earth for a while then ascended into heaven where he is seated at the right hand of the father interceding on our behalf.
For it is the power of God for salvation....
This "gospel" is what God chose from the beginning of time, to show His power over sin, to redeem us, sinners, so that we can stand in the presence of a Holy God and live with Him for all eternity.
To the Jew first, and also to the Greek
God chose Abraham and the nation that would come from him first to be His people. But through Jesus Christ,  God in His mercy extended salvation to everyone who will believe.
     For in it...
 It being salvation....the gospel
The righteousness of God is revealed...
God shows His goodness, perfect love, All His attributes in the redemption of sinners through the gospel of Jesus.
       from faith to faith...
Fallen man, sinners, only have to believe in the gospel of Jesus the Christ.  It is faith (trust, in God, belief)  that saves.  Our faith in God who is himself perfectly faithful.  He promises to "keep what we have committed to Him" and even when we doubt, fall back into sin, He cannot deny Himself. He is faithful to deliver.  Our faith- committed to Gods faithfulness .
as it is written, But the righteous man shall live by faith.
The man, women, or child who has placed their faith , their hope of redemption in the only Holy righteous and faithful God will be pronounced righteous .  His sins cast away as far as the east is from the west and he/she will live here and for all eternity in faith, trusting our faithful, loving, redeeming Holy God.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written "But the righteous man shall live by faith"  romans 1:16-17
