Cook'n on the Coast

We got home from Bay St. Louis last Wednesday but I have been too tired to blog. We were there Sunday through Wednesday.

Steve and I took the camper to Bay St. Louis which is on the coast of Mississippi. It is now 3 years after Katrina but relief workers are still coming and are very much needed, and so we went down there to cook for the volunteers. Our day would begin at 3:30am ( can you believe it? ) breakfast was ready to be served by 6:00, we would get a short break before coming back to fix lunch and dinner. Our day ended around 8:00pm or when ever we got everything cleaned up and things ready for the next day. It was actually really fun! We had a great team! Our leader, Mike Monroe, and Ann and Vicki from Crystal springs Ms. We had so much fun and laughed so much we were asked if we really were Baptists? ( We were there with the Ms. Baptist relief something or other )

One thing that struck me was the change in the church we were working in, 1st Baptist Bay St. Louis. According to a members testimony, the church before Katrina stayed within its 4 walls, helping its members and ministring to itself. Then the 4 walls were blown away, now they are a church that reaches out to thier community and goes outside Ms. to help others in need. God really does cause all things to work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose.

We will definitly do this again and I recommend going down there to help any way you can. There is still so much that needs to be done. The church still doesnt even have its 4 walls up yet.

PS.

I learned how to make tomato gravey , and bread pudding from biscuits.
