Thanksgiving Day

From A Womens Heart, by Beth Moore

My father was in the battalion that broke open the gates and announced freedom to prisoners in Dachau, a Nazi concentration camp. The emaciated prisoners kissed the soldiers' feet and repeatedly cried out their thanksgiving. In that moment the soldiers' lives were forever changed. The liberation, however, posed an immediate problem; the children. Either they had been separated from their parents or their parents were dead. Either way, they had no where to go. An army hospital was set up at once to care for them, where they were bathed , fed, and warmed. However, it wasnt enough. Every night brought horrifying nightmares, making rest impossible for the children and the personnel.
Finally, one man lined up the children at bedtime, gathered loaves from the kitchen, and tore off a piece of bread for each child. The children curled up in their beds, nestled the bread against their breasts, and slept with the angels.

As we gather together today with our feast on the table we need to remember those who have little or nothing. We should also remember " The Bread of Presence" The bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world john 6:33 May be be forever gratful for the gift of his very life He gave for us so that we can live with Him , in heaven, forever.

It has been a long while since I last posted a blog other than the Secret church promo. so much has happened.
Hunter is settled in at Nyack and loving it! He lives in boarding house type place with friends of Nikki's family and works at Panara Bread Company. As I said he loves it there. He was accepted into the college choir and loves going into the city or doing anything at all as long as it is with Nikki. Sadly though we will not see him or Rachel and Justin for Thanksgiving. :(
We have canceled the winter trip to India for many reasons. They had so much flooding over there and damage from the cyclones that right now they need financial help more than they need us to come in person. Also Jeff, Steves brother, is now number 7 on the liver donor list and we hope to get a call any time in the next few months to rush him to Birmingham. Keep him in your prayers. He has had hyp C most of his life from a blood transfusion as a child.
We are planning on going to India in June though so all of ya'll start planning!!!! We would love for you to come with us.
Gareth Drake Brightbill entered our lives in July and he is a joy!!!!!! Pictures will be in the next post as I am not on my own computer right now. I got to be there when he was born and stayed for 3 weeks after. He is the best baby ever! :) Rachel was able to stay home with him for 12 weeks but started back to work this week full time. It sounds like they choose a good daycare and Justin is off on Fridays so he only goes 4 days a week.
Steve picked me up and after "bonding" for a couple days with Gareth we drove to Pa Amish country and enjoyed 2 days there. We stayed with my dads cousin and his wife, John and Elsie Bush. John works with Wycliffe there in the Lancaster area.
From there we went to Ny to see Hunter and I got to go to the city for the first time. We attended Time Square church, which was great, and then walked around site seeing. We met some of Nikkis family and just has a wonderful time.
We came home and got back into the swing of things. Work, prison outreach and Ladies Bible study etc....
Then last week Emery Ann Gray entered the world. Steve and I were able to drive up tp Birmingham for the day and got there one hour before delivery. We stayed until momma Kelly just couldnt take anymore visitors and reluctantly came home. Again, more pictures later.
Alyssa and Bo continue to work hard. Alyssa with her dance studio and Bo with seminary and Best buy. They have a new addition as well, a weimerimer names Spurgeon. I havent met him yet. They are coming for dinner Sunday , maybe then?
Well I think that about does it for catching up.
bye bye

Hunter leaves Friday and other stuff

Tomorrow is the big party for Hunter. His birthday and going away party. He leaves friday morning with Nikki for Angels ( she was part of thier thailand team) wedding in Missouri then on to New York. We will miss him but we know this is where he should be. The Lord has and is working out all the details.
Monday was fun. Hunter thought Nikki was coming in on Tuesday but she actually flew in Monday at 4:30. Steve and I went to New Orleans to pick her up...took her to dinner then to Cafe Dumonde then back to our house. We had to call Hunter, who was in Hattiesburg at Alyssa's house, and try to get him to come home. After some whinning he agreed to come home. She waited for him in the living room just watching tv but he never saw her. He went to his room. She finally got up and walked to his door. IT WAS GREAT! You should have seen it!
We love having her here . She is so sweet.
Other than Hunter, we are expecting our grandbaby in a week or so. Rachel should give birth to baby Gareth around the 30th of July. I will fly up there on the 25th and Steve will meet me up there later and stay for a few days then we will go to New York or a few days. Jacquelyn gets to stay at the house and pet sit for us. Lucky her!!!! Thanks Jacq! Check out the Brightbills blog for more info on the baby and them.
Steve and I are also in the planning stages for our next trip to India. We hope to go dec. 28-Jan 10th. While we are there this time we will do vbs for the orphanage, I will lead a womens conference for the "Bible Women" and Steve will lead another pasters conference. We already have a paster and his wife coming with us as well as thier teenage daughter who loves missions. She is currently in the Phillipeans this summer. ( I didnt spell that right) Celia is going to help me do the womens conference and Dale will help with the pasters. We are not going to do another large "great gospel meeting" this time though. We will however speak in the churches most days. Im hoping Alyssa and Bo will be able to go again . I know they would like to if Bo has time off from his job and Seminary and they can raise thier support for the trip.
the plans for the well and septic tank are coming along great! We sent money this week for a medical team. Local doctors are going with williams and Paul to some of the remote villages to treat those with malaria and what ever else they can help with. It is amazing to see how a little bit can go such a long way over there. They will also be handing out Bibles in thier lanquage to the people . Williams would like for us to help him come up with a name for this ministry in India. any suggestions?????
If any of you are interested in going with us this winter just write a comment or contact either Steve or I . Remember you will need time to get your shots and visa's and raise your support. we can give you all the details. We especially need help with vbs right now.
Well thats all I can think of.....I think I have caught ya'll up on whats going on here....how about you?

we are home

Words cannot express how much this trip has ment to me. We had such a wonderful time. Everything worked out so well. Williams and his brother Paul have such a great sense of humor that we laughed all the time inspite of the heat. the children are sooo sweet. when williams found out it was our anniversary monday they secretly planned a party/wedding for us andnow we are officially married. :) Mangos were in season and poor Steve OD'ed on them. I think it will be a very long time before he eats another. The plane ride home was very very long . We are all wiped out. There is so much to say but Im much too tired to write so I will just post some pictures. enjoy

God Helps His Servant

The Lord has opened my ear and I was not disobediant.......

I followed orders. stood there and took it while they beat me. held steady while they pulled out my beard. Didnt dodge thier insults. faced them as they spit in my face. And the master God stands right there and helps me. so I'm not disgraced. Therefore I set my face like flint. confident that I'll never regret this. My champion is right here. Let us take our stand together!
Who dares bring suit against me? Let him try!!
Look! the Master. God, is right here. Who would dare call me guilty? Look! My accusters are a clothes bin of threadbare socks, fodder for moths!
Who out there fears God, actually listens to the voice of his servant? For anyone out there who doesnt know where you're going, anyone groping in the dark. Here's what: Trust in God, Lean on your God! But if you are after making trouble, playing with fire, Go ahead and see where it gets you. Set your fires, stir people up, blow on the flames, But dont expect me to just stand there and watch. I'll hold your feet to the flames.

Everyone is home

Its good to have all my kids back in the USA. Alyssa spent her spring break at the Asha house in Northern India with her in laws while Bo ( Alyssa's husband) and Hunter went to Haiti and worked at the Baptist mission there. Each of them are home safe and healthy but very tired. I am now looking forward to our trip together to South East India this summer.

I will now attempt to upload some of the pictures my kids have posted from their trips. ( I hope this works)

wonderful time of the year!!

This is how much God loved the world; He gave His son, His one and only Son, And this is why; so that no-one need be destroyed; by believing in Him,anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didnt go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was, He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in Him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? because of that persons failure to believe in the one-of -a-kind Son of God when He introduced Him.

uncontrolable

What is the deal?
I live out , way out, in the country. No one just "drops by" and even those who have been here on purpose, cant remember how they got here so they have to call before coming for directions...again.
So, how is it that everyone in the world ( a slight exaggeration) seems to know when I am home alone and about to take a bath or shower?
It never fails. steve will be gone, I will decide to get in the shower, and just as I have lathered up my hair, all 7 of my dogs go nuts barking as if the boogie man has appeared in the yard.
9 times out of ten I will quickly rinse off and dress only to find it was nothing at all. Maybe a truck going down the road or a squirrel in a tree.
Occationally it will be the ups man, the mail man with a box too big for the mailbox or a hunter driving up my neighbors property. ( I use the word "neighbor lightly since the closest house to me is a mile down the road. )
Oh well.....
it is a reminder that its not all about me, and life doesnt always turn out as we plan.
The good news is though, God is in control, and His plans are better than ours.
There have been times this has happened and though Im upset about having to cut my shower short, there is a pleasant surprise package waiting for me. Or purhaps I think its nothing, only to find later that a sray dog or cat has wondered on the property in need of attention.
And then some times I never see the reason for the disruption to MY plans.

But God has made everything appropriate in its time.

Jer. 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for your welfare not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. and you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

The disruptions in our lives can be looked at as an opportunity....a time to step back and take a closer look, at ourselves, and sometimes beyond ourselves. God has a plan for all our lives, it might just be a bigger plan than you think.

what a difference a day makes

Day 3---A huge amount of the puffiness is gone and my skin looks softer.
Day 1 the redness is gone and some of the puffiness

Before picture at Rachels

I wish you could see these better. Im doing my own before and after photots for a new skin care product I found. After seeing this photo sitting on Rachels sofa in Washington that Hunter took I was totally grossed out! I had thought I actually looked pretty good that day. But look how red my skin is and how puffy my eyes are!!!! OOOOO!
Some other pictures of me at home for new years and christmas showed the same rough dry red skin and super puffy eyes. I had some close ups of my eyes but my camera batteries died. After seeing these pictures I started looking for a new skin care line. I had been using oil of olay, and before that I had used Beauty Control. The beauty control was good but expensive!
I began googling product lines and trying to find an inexpensive line that had antioxidants and something to reduce the redness and puffiness....you will never guess where I found it...HSN.
Never in my life would I have thought to look there. I dont watch much tv except the food network and hgtv. But I saw this and since they had a 30 day money back guaruntee I decided to try it. So far so good!!!! Right away the redness has gone away and slowly my eyes are loosing some of thier puffiness. I will always have some since I have such bad allergies and Im 51 so yes I have wrinkles! This product has grapeseed extract and aloe along with some other stuff. I love the smell too!. The price was great. Just $44.00 for a cleanser, eye cream, wrinkle cream, moisturizer and hand cream. Amazing hu? considering Oil of Olay is 25.00 just for one day cream. The product is by M. Asam, a german company, and the product line Im using is the " all you will ever need" Check it out!

Last saturday

I wish I had pictures to show you but I want to tell you about what we did last saturday.
Steve and I went to the prison in Angie La. with a group called "One Day With God."

First we drove to Mccomb Ms. to pick up 2 kids and and thier mom. ( 7am) The childrens dad is in prison at Angie. We took them to the prison where we registered, got thier faces painted and balloon animals made. Then the mom was taken with the other moms, grandmas and caregivers of these children to another location within the prison to spend the day doing crafts, hearing Gods word and ,,,well, Im not sure what else they did.
Steve and I , as well as the other volunteers, went into the prison yard (9:30am) where the dads were waiting to see their children. There was a bunch of hugging and crying and it was so sweet.!
We then spent the whole day with our family in the prison gym. This group, One Day with God. Does this all over the nation and it is the most wonderful ministry.!
We had a guest speaker, a harlem globe trotter ( the kids loved it) , ate great bbq chicken, made necklaces and braclets, played games like the games you play in awana's and the dads even got to slow dance with their daughters and teach their sons how to tie a tie.
At the end of this very long but awesome day, we all went out on the yard again to say goodbye and release balloons into the air as a symbol of the forgiveness that was given by the kids to their dads that day and the dads toward family and others. Everyone cried again, kissed, hugged then went home feeling loved.
We took our kids and their mom home and hope we get to see them again someday.
The kids then hugged and kissed us and thanked us for taking them to see their dad, and as a bonus , they met their step brother for the first time that day and made plans to get together with him the next weekend.
If you have ever thought about prison ministry but just didnt know what you could do, check out this ministry and get involved. You will not regret it.
